I don’t know about you but I love getting to know bloggers a tiny bit better and tags are just perfect for that. So when the adorable Tenneil for Like Neon Love tagged me to do the AM-PM Routine tag a little while ago, I jumped on the occasion to answer these ten questions.
1. What is your morning beauty routine?
The first thing I do when I get up is washing my face in order to properly wake up. Then I jump in the shower and once out, I use the Bioderma Sebium H2O micellar water to get rid of the impurities that built up during the night. I then use the Uriage Thermal Water spray all over my face to calm the skin. Body wise, I’ve finished my beloved Wood Sage and Sea Salt body cream from Jo Malone so now I’m using a much more affordable option by A-Derma. When comes the time to do my makeup, I start by hydrating my skin with the Kiehl’s serum. I love this stuff so much! It’s very comfortable to use and doesn’t break my skin out. Then I moisturize with the Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer that I’ve been using for the third time now. Then my skin’s ready for makeup!
2. What’s for breakfast?
I think breakfast is probably my favorite meal of the day. I can never not have it. It amazes me how some people can get to work without a single thing in their belly. Breakfast gives me all the energy to start the day and I could not do without it.
That being said, I’ve been born in a French family, so I’m a stranger to eggs or porridge in the morning. I’m a bread and (salted) butter kinda girl and that’s all. I’m pretty basic but if I can vary the type of bread (brioche, challah, baguette), it’s always accompanied with butter. I used to have a cup of hot chocolate as my hot beverage but switched to tea about a year ago and could never go back!
3. Coffee or Tea?
Tea definitely! I’m sorry to say that I hate coffee with a passion. The smell itself gets me nauseous and the taste is as awful to me. I’ll survive! I’ve found solace in (Russian) Earl Grey tea and have it two to three times a day. Sometimes I fancy switching to Moroccan Mint tea if I feel like I need to lay off the black tea and have green tea instead.
4. How Long Does It Take You to Get Out the Door?
I’m quite ashamed to answer this question but let me explain to you that I absolutely hate having to rush in the morning. I’m slow to start the day and I need my time to emerge. So I set up my alarm exactly two hours before I need to get out the door and it takes me about 20 minutes to get out of bed. Of course, I could get ready in a shorter time span, but like I said, that’s how I like to get ready in the morning.
5. What is your go-to makeup look on a fuss-free morning?
Is there such a thing as a fuss-free morning though? If it’s fuss-free then I don’t wear makeup at all. Otherwise, I find it much more interesting to go through the products I use on a daily basis and here they are : Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation, Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able Concealer, Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Illuminating Powder, Soap and Glory Solar Powder, Blush (I switch every other day), Nars Eyeshadow Base, eyeshadow palette (it’s either a Mac quad, Chanel Poesie or Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight), Supercat Liner, Marc Jacobs Mascara, Bobbi Brown Brow Shaper.
6. Snack time! What’s in the bowl?
I snack only on the weekend and if I’m home. If I’m at my parents there will probably be a cake ready to be demolished but otherwise, I have a weakness for Nutella eaten directly from the spoon. I know, bad habit.
7. What is your evening beauty routine?
My evening beauty routine is pretty easy. I start by removing my makeup with the Bioderma Créaline H2O micellar water. Sometimes I can also use the Bioderma Hydrabio Moisturising Cleansing Milk over the eyes. Then I cleanse with the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel and finish it off with the Uriage thermal water like I did in the morning. To moisturize I’m still using the Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer. If I feel like my skin is a bit parched, I might apply a layer of the Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey mask right after cleansing.
8. How do you wind down and prep for bed?
I think that my process to wind down kind of always consists in prepping and having a good meal, watching a tv show/working on my blog. I recently bought an HDMi cable so I can watch my shows on my television screen and it’s the best! Sitting on my sofa with something sweet for dessert is an added bonus!
9. Cozy up! what are you wearing to sleep?
It’s probably very boring, but I’m all about comfy clothes to sleep in. Leggings and a tee do the job perfectly and during summer, shorts and a loose t-shirt. I’m always sleeping with something on because I’m so cold in Winter and if it’s hot in the warmer months, I find that there’s less sweat involved. Glamorous!
10. What are some things you must do before hitting the hay?
I try to always think about what I’m gonna wear the next day, or at least try to have a vague idea of an outfit. If I don’t really know how the weather’s gonna be, I consider my options and decide in the morning. One must always be prepared to the eventuality of rain!
Last step of my beauty routine consists in applying a good layer of lip balm as my lips are in a not so great condition right now and get dry pretty dramatically.
Once I’m comfortably lying down under the duvet, I like to go through my Instagram feed one last time to catch up on people’s stories.
Finally, before turning off the light I try to read for at least 10 to 15 minutes (I really wish I could read longer but I’m usually so tired that I start to slumber after a few pages and it’s hard to keep my eyes wide open) and set my alarm.
