Celebrate the Small Victories

Welcoming a New Design!

And so we are welcoming a new design today! Sorry there was no new post during the week, I was actually busy GETTING THINGS DONE!

As I explained in that linked post, MSH is turning 1 later this month and I just needed a fresh change. Some people don’t like to change too often, some get bored easily. As for me, I just love web design too much not too play around every now and then and twist things up a bit.

Being loyal to my love for minimalism, I didn’t go too far off from the previous design but wanted to have a more sophisticated finish, something that looked a bit more polished.

While I know this is absolutely not the most refined and mature design I could do (I’ve been postponing finishing it because every time my favorite bloggers revamped their blog I really felt like mine wasn’t good enough), I’ve finally settled on something I quite like and am proud of. And to me this is like the most important feeling in the world.

During this year I saw my blog evolve in terms of content, photography, and audience. I mean, of course it did, it went from non existent to a well cherished place. From someone that first wanted to open a blog in order to share pictures to someone that can write articles this long now, I’d say I’ve become a lot more confident on the writing front and I don’t hesitate as much as I did before to share things that I are more personal. I know I still have a long way to go, but I’m working on it.

I don’t know if it is inherently expected for a blog to display a certain type of content or to gain a certain amount of followers by the time it has made it through the first year, but I’m happy with what I have now and what I’ve accomplished so far. And I am eternally grateful to those of you who mentioned my blog on theirs, it’s such a joy whenever I see someone’s taking an interest into my online space and it is also a big motivation booster.

If you have goals about your blog or a dream of some sort, I think it’s important to take a step back, contemplate what you achieved, and celebrate these small victories. I’ve started collecting all the super positive feedback I receive and when the motivation is at its lowest, I think it does so much good to reread some of those heart-warming words.

It is also super important to remember why you blog to realize that you are on the right path. To me blogging was and still is a way to connect with people from all over the world and that is why I didn’t go the easy way and chose to write a bilingual blog. I just love getting to know you. I also enjoy talking about the things I care about and I love photography so it just felt right to showcase everything here.

There’s really nothing much you need to know about this new look, I slightly reorganized the categories but there’s also a few featured categories/series in the sidebar now! I completed my blogroll, and created an archive page as well.

Anyway, tell me what you think!
